"His explanations on different Tuvan styles are correct. He is now the master of Tuvan throat voice techniques in the West." - Prof. Tran Quang Hai
"Steve was more than generous with his time, his energy, and his unique expertise....Steve is part guru, part music teacher and part Catskill comic - somehow he manages to engage all three of these aspects at once. He has plenty of interesting little teaching tricks up his pedagogical sleeve to enable people to make the sounds he wants them to make." - Peter Pringle, Montreal Throat-Singing Festival 4/2001
I've been teaching workshops since the '90s, when I began giving throat-singing workshops with the encouragement of the famed Tuvan ensemble, Huun-Huur-Tu. I've taught sound healing techniques for several years, first as part of my throat-singing workshops, then expanding them into complete classes, and then added didgeridoo workshops at beginner-intermediate levels. Additionally, we offer a variety of school and corporate programs.

Teaching Khoomei (Tuvan Throat-Singing) workshop with Huun-Huur-Tu
The didgeridoo (didjerdidoo, didjeridu, didg, didj, etc.) has its roots in the ancient instrument of the Aboriginal peoples of Australia. It is an amazing, great and powerful sounding instrument, useful for music-making, meditation, and sound healing. In addition to being fun and facilitating an enhanced sense of well-being, the didg can provide exercise and massages the internal organs.
Numerous medical organizations are recommending that playing the didgeridoo can have beneficial effects providing improvement and relief from snoring and sleep apnea, very common disorders that can have serious negative health implications.
This beginning workshop will cover basic sounds, techniques, breathing, instrument selection and more.
Tibetan bowls are amazing sonic transducers, changing a small amount of kinetic energy into long-lasting beautiful sound energy. They can be used to make music, for meditating, and for healing. Some are deeply calming, some energizing, some magical and trance-inducing!
Learn how to play the bowls, how to feel and work with their energy, choosing the right bowls to use for healing, meditation or musical applications. Bowls will be provided, and there will be bowls available for purchase. Students are invited to bring their own bowls as well.

Qigong classes and workshops are taught by Johnna Morrow. Various forms are offered.
Sometimes called Chinese yoga, qigong loosely translates as energy work. Exercises focus on cleansing, gathering and circulating Qi (vital life force energy) throughout our body. Qigong is one of the internal martial arts, along with taiji (tai-chi) and bagua. The earliest known reference to qigong date to the 6th century BCE. In 168 B.C.E. began the recording of prescribing physical movements for specific illness or disease. Since then qigong has expanded into 7-8,000 major styles of qigong forms that have been practiced & developed over the centuries. Qigong has roots in Shamanism, Taoism, Confucianism, Buddhism & Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
Qi is conceptualized as the intrinsic substance that makes up the cosmos and manifests all things through its movements and variations, similar to prana in Indian thought. Qigong utilizes breath, posture, visualization, movement and presence of mind to cultivate life-energy for healing, spiritual transformation and physical conditioning.
My beginning Sound Healing workshops explore the use of the voice/harmonics, didgeridoo, and Himalayan metalophones (singing bowls, tingshas, gongs, and bells). Practice didgeridoos that you can keep will be provided. A good selection of Tibetan Singing bowls and fine Geoff Frost agave didgeridoos will be available for purchase. This workshop is excellent for both therapists and for self-help.
You'll get plenty of hands-on experience both giving and receiving sound healing treatments!
